Interviews were conducted with the municipalities where the program was held, and pre- and post-questionnaire surveys were conducted with the participating students. In 2023, we continued to investigate the impact of practical training experiences at small-scale schools in remote areas on students, and also conducted interviews with principals of implementing schools from the perspective of the qualities required of “elementary school teachers involved in community development.” We conducted interviews with a range of people that included the principals of the schools. The students' internship locations were determined through coordination and utilization of the “Kusanone Education Training” (hereinafter referred to as “Kusanone”) system planned by the Hokkaido Board of Education (hereinafter referred to as Dokyoi).
