The imagery task was set to an \"irregular rhythmic movements\". When the imagery task was performed using the subject’s own third-person perspective images, more significant activation was observed in the right frontopolar cortex, right lingual gyrus, and left fusiform gyrus than when using third-person perspective images of others. The frontopolar cortex is one of the most recently evolved regions of the brain and participates in multiple brain networks. It is possible that networks involving the frontopolar cortex work together to differentiate between the self and others, as well as between first-person and third-person perspectives, linking them to actions.
