This study was undertaken with the Hokkaido Bunkyo University Joint Research Fund and executed between the months of June and August in 2014. The production of sex education teaching materials for the intellectually disabled has become a challenge for school nurses and special needs teachers across the country， and many schools are creating handmade materials. However， many of the professionals involved with these children acknowledge the difficulty of providing learning materials that are close\nto the reality but that are also appropriate. Being experienced midwives， the three authors felt that sex education was an area in which they could collaborate as experts in the field， and thus they devised and attempted to produce a handmade model of menstruation.
